No regenerating health bars here. You can't be bothered to read information that you pick up on your journey. You think Call of Duty is the best game ever.2). You enjoy more realistic gunplay. Get this game if:1).
You were around in the 80's and remember the Cold War.3). (Fallout 3 sucks by the way)This game will waste no time throwing you into the thick of things, and you will likely die a lot at first. If you are on the fence on whether to buy it, here are some tips that I hope help. 4).
You think regenerating health bars are necessary to enjoy a game.3). You think this is going to be anything like Fallout 3, it's NOT. Meaning, one or two bullets will kill you and you can bleed out. You leap at the chance to play a game that tries new ways to do things. The biggest selling point is the immersion, which is laid on thick.
If you haven't played the first one, you should as a lot of the stuff in this bad boy will make more sense. You get angry if a game crashes ever.4). You need games to hold your hand and tell you how to jump.5). 6). 5). I think Zero Punctuation's review was pretty spot on. You like challenging and engrossing games.2).
[.].I personally played from beginning to end with no crashes after I patched. The world is very open, and the order you do things is rarely forced on you. You don't mind doing a little legwork to get things working right, and you have an ample machine to run it.Don't bother if:1). But as you get the hang of it you'll find it pretty damn awesome. And it's only like 10 bucks these days so go for it.
Wondering through the red forest with mutants and radiation and anomalies in the dark is pretty creepy. Everyone hates enemy AI which causes them to shoot you as soon as they have line of sight, even if it's in pith blackness or through brush and cover.NOTE: if you path the game saved game files don't work any more, so patch before you start playing.Save often, there are plenty of ways to die.Visually this game is one of the best I have seen.
gear, ammo, mods/upgrades of equipment) management, and stealth. The game has what is for me, the perfect mix of getting to shoot stuff, resource (i.e.
Of course when I shot them they all opened up on me but the realism was refreshing. I really enjoy the fact that enemies can sometimes not notice you and stealth is a legitimate option.
If you are in the dark with no flashlight on I have actually had enemies run into me and keep going, never noticing I was there. The graphics and atmosphere are very immersive.
The game will crash frequently without the patches but after patching to the latest (as of this review) I have only had a single crash and I am pretty far through the game, nearly done.If it weren't for so many bugs I would have given this game 5/5 stars.
Now that it's all patched up, I can't recommend it highly enough. An awesome experience unlike anything else you've played.
As a huge fan of the origional S.T.A.L.K.E.R it was only natural to get this game. Overall I have enjoyed this game as much as the first. The firefight in the hospital was the most fun and exciting.
It is just as much fun as the origional, but I found it to be a bit more frustrating. The weapon selection is still good, and your choices matter in the game, but not the ending. The game still has that creepy feel, even more than the first stalker.
The most frustrating part is the practically invinceable and invisible creatures in the forrest. The method of collecting artifacts using a detector simply felt like a waste of time. I will also add my bias for prequls, this fills in some questions from the origional game, but the open ended outcome is gone, which is why I deduct one star.
If you are new to the Stalker games I recomend the origional first, the graphics are the same and the gameplay basicly is too. Worth a try.
Missions are essentially going to command points and taking them over for the side you're working for. So if you loved Fallout 3 you may enjoy this title. While this is supposed to get much more varied as you have to balance alliances later on I have yet to get to that part, I can't play it for long periods as the lack of immersion is unavoidable for me. That is unless you have a distaste for foreign games, which though well polished is still an obvious foreign game. I have to say I find this like a blend of Fallout 3(vaguely) and Battlefield 2. I think that there are several elements that work well when you're playing though if I mentioned each you may be either confused or uncaring as you would not understand how they all play together. In any case it is worth a play if you like rpg influenced games and with an emphasis on first person shooters.
